Rick Metzgar

May 28, 1958 — January 21, 2021

Rick  L. Metzgar age 62 of Alliance passed away Thursday January 21, 2021 at Aultman Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with previous health conditions and Covid. He was born May 28, 1958 to the late John Metzgar and Patricia (Riesen) Metzgar. He was raised by his Aunt Rose and Uncle Bud who have also preceded him in death. He is survived by his heartbroken spouse; Candy,  three daughters; Mindy Metzgar (Derek), Brandy Wilson (Wade), Melissa Wilson (Ben), two sons; Brent Metzgar (Ashley), Jason Metzgar, a sister; Sandy "Dandy"(Lee) Zehentbauer,  step-sister; Chris Volzer, two brothers, John (Mechelle) Metzgar, Scott Schrader and grandchildren; K-lee, Quenton, Ehrick, Hailey, Levi, and Sawyer, extended family , special friend "Pee-Wee", and his beloved dog Elsa. In addition to his parents, Aunt Rose, and Uncle Bud he was preceded in death by two sisters; Michelle Mayle and his infant sister Lisa, step-brother; Dave Schrader, and his precious infant grand-son Noah. Rick graduated from Marlington High School. He worked for many years at American Steel in Alliance as a chipper/grinder. He later worked for the Timken Company in Canton as an inspector. Rick was a member of Damascus Friends Church and attended there with his family. Rick was a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan even through the MANY difficult years. He enjoyed trips to Walmart which often became a social event of seeing who he knew and who he could talk to while roaming the aisles. He loved his Harley Davidson and there are many stories that surround him owning his motorcycle. He always claimed his ownership of the remote even when he was found "resting his eyes" and not really watching TV. Rick's greatest enjoyments in life were those involving his precious family. That could be simple family gatherings, holding hands with his wife, grilling out, or just being in the presence of his grandkids and spoiling and loving them as a Papa should. Rick will continue to leave a legacy as his loved ones continue to share his stories. In his famous words, this is not  good-bye it's just a "see you later." The family would like to extend a special thank you Aultman MICU staff for their love and compassion. A time of visitation will take place at Dean's Funeral Home 256 W. Ohio Avenue Sebring on Wednesday January 27, 2021 from 11am to 1pm. A Funeral Service will take place at 115pm January 27, 2021 at Highland Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor Steve Lowe officiating.
