Emma Lamp

Deerfield:

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Emma L. (Shilling) Lamp, age 79, of Deerfield, a loving and devoted mother fondly referred to as Granny, Gran or Sweet Pea by those most important to her. Emma passed peacefully at her home with her devoted family at her side, February 2, 2023, at her home. She was born June 17, 1943, to Harry and Josephine (Libert) Shilling in Deerfield. Emma was a graduate of Southeast High School in Ravenna. She worked as a nursing assistant at Alliance City Hospital, telephone operator for Ohio Bell, and retired from the Ravenna Army Ammunition plant after working several years as a security guard. Her hobbies after retirement included working in her flower beds, feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard, shopping, cooking, and taking care of others. She was especially proud of her two grandsons and their accomplishments. Her legacy left for those who knew her will live on in the lives of those she touched with her big heart and generous spirit. She had a love of the color purple, all flowers, butterflies, snow globes, angels, country music , Necco wafers, and Dairy Queen banana splits. Survivors include her daughter, Tonya (Scott) Dean, grandsons, Zachary and Astro Dean, sister, Donna Shilling, sister-in -laws, Joyce Lamp, Mary Lamp, brother-in-law, Leon Lamp, several nieces and nephews, honorary family Ed (Tracy) Samec, Bev Wilt, fellow co-workers, and her beloved fur-baby protector and companion, Duke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Lamp and Earl Rockwell, infant son, Earl Rockwell Jr., brothers, Harry, Bob, Harold, and Jerry, Shilling, sister; Rosemary Martin, sister-in laws; Pat and Sally Shilling,  brothers-in-law, Richard, Robert, Glenn Lamp, Randy Martin , several nieces and nephews. Per her request private family services will be held with Hospice Chaplain Freddie  Rodriquez officiating and burial will take place at 10am on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at Mt. Union Cemetery in Alliance. Thank you to Dr. Lehrer and the Aultman Alliance Hospice Care team for their extra support during this difficult time. Heaven gained an angel and a huge piece of our hearts. Mom, watch over us from above and keep us safe until we are reunited again. We will look for you in glimpses of all the things you loved, butterflies, flowers, and the beauty of God's creations that we can enjoy daily. In the words of her favorite country singer, "Go rest high on that mountain...." you have earned it. See you later Gater.......... Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
