Calvin Cleveland

April 7, 1939 — September 24, 2020

Calvin “Papa” Cleveland was born April 7, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Katherine and Odell Cleveland. Calvin was raised on a farm in Homeville, PA with his brother Odell and sister Shirley. He grew up in Homestead area and later relocated to Spring Garden in Pittsburgh’s North Side. Papa owned a bar & grill in Homestead for many years. He later worked at the Steel Mill in Braddock, PA. After moving to the Northside, he became a security guard for St. Moritz. He worked at Exxon gas station and
CCAC until he retired.
Proceeding him in death his sister
Shirley, and daughter Lason White. Papa leaves behind one son Calvin Cleveland, a host of grandchildren and great grand- children, 3 favorite nephews Shy, Terry, and Larry Cleveland. Two daughters that he raised Toyia White and Tamika Waller.
In 2014 Papa was diagnosed with dementia. His
granddaughter Ericka moved in with him along with her family. Ericka refused to put Papa in a nursing home, and vowed to take care of him .
Papa passed on to glory
September 24, 2020 at 1:30pm after
having his second stroke at the age 81 in the comfort of his home in the company of his granddaughter Ericka White, her significant other Terry Johnson, and great grandchil- dren Tremar Battle and Lason Johnson whom all lived together for many years. Visitation will take place Saturday October 3, 2020 from 230 pm to 3 pm at Dean’s Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life will take place at 3 pm with Gragory Simonson officiating. Friends and family may share online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean’s Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
