He spent his career with Alliance Drop Forge and American Steel. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge, earning the highest honor. He was a bi-vocational Pastor and had a deep love of the Lord.

Robert enjoyed traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach, as well as golfing, hunting, and fishing. He earned the highest honor in the Masonic Lodge and also served as a vocational pastor. Above all, Robert cherished his family. His proudest accomplishment was the love he shared with them. He is survived by his loving family, including his son, Robert J. (Jennifer) McNutt; daughter, Katherine L. (Troy) Wheetley; grandchildren, Taylor Schillinger, Bradley Schillinger, Bella Wheetley, TJ Wheetley, Averie McNutt, and Athena (Austin) Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Adalynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 52 years, Jean Kay McNutt, who passed away on December 31, 2023, a brother, Tom (Joan) McNutt, and a nephew, William Eric McNutt.

In 2025, Robert was blessed to remarry and is survived by his wife, Patricia Geckler McNutt, and is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
