Nancy Louise Hill, (nee Kostelnik) passed away September 28th, 2025. Nancy was born August 21st,
1942 in Amsterdam, Jefferson County, Ohio, to John Kostelnik and Mary Kostelnik (nee Mazik).
Nancy was raised on the family dairy farm in Amsterdam, Ohio. She graduated from East Springfield
High School in Jefferson County in 1960. She was employed as a secretary to the Jefferson County
School Board Attendance Officer upon graduation. While working for the school board, she met her
future husband, Wendell “Sam” Hill, who was stationed at the Wintersville/Steubenville post of the
The Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1964. She and Sam were married on September 25th, 1965, and she left
Amsterdam for Portage County, Ohio. Nancy and Sam had two sons, John and David Hill, who still
reside in Edinburg. Nancy was a stay-at-home mother, caring for their home and two sons. As she was
a third-generation Czechoslovakian, she spoiled them with all the traditional dishes she grew up on.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Father, John Kostelnik; Mother, Mary; her brother Richard, who died in
infancy; her brother Jonathan Kostelnik; and her husband, Wendell (“Sam”). She is survived by her sons
John and David Hill of Edinburg, sister Patricia (Tom) Freismuth of Wheeling, WV, and sisters-in-law
Debi (Larry) Todd of Wilcox, AZ, and Bonnie Hall of Jackson, OH, several nieces and nephews, and
John Hill’s special adventurous companion, Frances Hall of Alliance, OH.
Nancy wished to be cremated and did not want calling hours.
