Lewis Daniel Shafer, lovingly referred to as Danny, was born on September 28, 1961, in Akron, Ohio.  It was cool that day with a high of 61 degrees.   He was the only son of Lewis and Phyllis Shafer.  Throughout his life on earth, Danny studiously collected information on many facets of life.  He molded his interests and honed his skills to become a man of many talents.  By his nature, he was curious and prepared, a weather radio was always nearby.  He could be best described as an information “junkie”, who knew a little bit about a lot of things.  His varied Interests included: hunting, fishing. cooking, humor, pets, people and collecting knives.  And yet if you asked him what he was doing, his response was often “absolutely nothing”.  Lewis spent his working life on the road as a short haul truck driver with local companies.  This career seemed to give him an encyclopedia like knowledge of the terrain of northeastern Ohio and beyond.  He could always be counted on to give you directions from point A to point B with all the interesting landmarks included along the way.  In later life, he was constantly surfing the internet looking for interesting tidbits of information to add to his knowledge base and to share with friends.  He was a man of character, generosity, and a strong sense of right and wrong that was his compass throughout life.  Rarely angry, he portrayed a calm demeanor that made him easy to talk to and fun to be around.  Although life wasn’t always kind to him, he rarely complained.  He passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Saturday, February 24 at his home in Alliance, Ohio and was gathered to his loved ones in Heaven.  He is survived by his sister Donna Somerville of Ohio, his daughter Heather (Scott) Franklin of Tennessee, Tim (Julie) McIntosh of Indiana, Joseph McInTosh of Ohio, Grandchildren Emma Lisa and Are Jay Franklin, Cameron and Jacee Shafer.  Payton and Thomas McInTosh and Aaleeyah McInTosh . He will also be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jodie, and his son Lewis.  A celebration of a life well lived will be held at a later date to commemorate a loving soul that has earned his reward.
