Laurie Ann (Wheeler) Snyder passed away peacefully at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, Ohio, on September 2, 2026.

Laurie was born in Barberton, Ohio to Charles and Alberta Wheeler on February 4, 1953. She graduated from Barberton High School in 1971 and immediately entered Idabell Firestone School of Nursing at Akron City Hospital and became a registered nurse in 1974. She worked at City Hospital for several years before working in nursing homes. She enjoyed her patients and they loved her.

Laurie’s next area of interest took her to the detox center in Akron which later became part of Oriana House. She remained there until she retired. She had limitless compassion for her patients there.

Laurie grew up in Johnson United Methodist Church in Barberton, and remained United Methodist all her life. The United Methodist Church brought her to Lakeside Institute at Lakeside, Ohio. After she graduated to staff at Institute, she became a counselor and nurse at the camp. She and all her “kids” had such a great time! The staff became lifelong friends.

In all the places Laurie went, there was laughter and joy. So many of her memories were of laughing with friends and family. Her mom, dad, and three sisters laughed at everything, sometimes inappropriately.

Laurie was predeceased by her parents, husband Jeff Snyder, husband Rob Davis, and daughter Amy Davis.

She is survived by sisters Ruthie Wheeler, Mary Jane (Rick) Sampson, Liz Spiker, brother-in-law Ric Davis, and lifelong friends Janice Golden and Tim Johnson. Her many nieces and nephews will miss her, too.

The family are so grateful for the care Laurie received at Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center. The nurses and aides were so gentle and caring and loved Laurie. She loved them back.

Laurie chose to be cremated and buried with her husband Jeff at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron.
