Lauretta Ann Stark, born on January 10, 1960, in Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Woodlawn's Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio, at the age of 66. Laurie was a beloved member of her family and community, remembered for her unwavering love, generosity, and the warmth she brought to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Laurie’s life was defined by deep connections with her family. She is survived by her devoted fiancée, Kevin Schaffer, her sweet puppy, Scooter, as well as her loving son, Thomas J. (Laura) Cotterman. Her legacy continues through her cherished daughter, Chris (Rick) Stark Hartley. Laurie also leaves behind her sisters, Leigh Anne (Jim) Johnson and Traci (Jeremy) Weaver, brother, Ken Mount, and lifelong chosen sister Kelly Granger-Casier, as well as a wide circle of nieces and nephews, including Anne (Josué) Leck, Aria Weaver, and Ben (Krista) Mount. Her grandchildren—Kellin and Cooper Cotterman, grand nieces and nephews, Cole, Kaelyn, Kylie, Camden, Cohen, and Karleigh—were the joy of her later years, each one carrying a unique part of her heart forward. Laurie’s relationships stretched far beyond those of immediate family. She was a loving niece to Joan Boian and Bob Cotterman, and she also shared strong bonds with her cousins, Mike Gillium and Vick Gillium. She mourned the loss of her beloved husband, Butch Stark, and held close the memories of her late father, Edward Cotterman, mother, Patricia Cotterman, brother, Dan Cotterman, and sister, Daughn Mount, but Laurie’s enduring spirit and compassionate nature continued to inspire those around her. She had a love for hummingbirds and displayed them throughout her home. Her green thumb showed in the many plants and flowers she cared for and proudly displayed. She also enjoyed spending time with others and was truly a people person. She had previously attended Damascus Friends Church, and she was an active member of the Sebring Post 76 of the American Legion. She loved social gatherings, bingo, and gambling (Lucky Laurie!). A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 15th, from 1-4 pm at Sebring American Legion Post 76. As we say goodbye to Laurie, may her kindness and love continue to inspire all who carry her memory in their hearts. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio.
