Obituary for Katherine Marie Smith

Katherine Marie Smith, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio. She was born on February 28, 1956, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Frederick Henry Boon and Katherine Marie (Otey) Boon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Fred H. Boon Jr., her sister Carol Ann (Boon) Reese, and her beloved son Gerald Jerico “Monk” Boon, who passed away on July 15, 2026.

Katherine is survived by her siblings: Maxine Parks, Norma Jean Baskin, Sandra Lee James, Richard L. Boon (Dorine), Robert D. Boon, and Carl L. Boon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She also leaves behind her cherished short‑haired Chihuahua, Choppa, her loyal companion.

Affectionately known as Aunt “Marie”, she was a joyful, fun-loving, and deeply faith-filled woman. She shared scripture regularly with her family and lived her life with a bright spirit rooted in her love for God. Her favorite color was red, and she adored the anthurium flower. Katherine loved music—especially Earth, Wind & Fire—and enjoyed dancing, laughing, and spending time with the people she loved most.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean’s Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio.
