Known as a gearhead, Jon enjoyed fast classic cars and left these words for his friends and family: 'I will meet you in the garage.'

Jonathan “Jon” Jay Dyke, 59, of Deerfield, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, with his family by his side. Born May 25, 1967, in Akron, Ohio, to Ernie and Marian Dyke, Jon was a gentle giant standing 6 feet 5 inches tall. He worked for Goodyear as a lunar mobility technician, contributing to airless tire technology for future moon and space missions. Jon loved his work and was deeply supported by his company during his illness. A die-hard Cleveland Browns and Guardians fan, he was also an avid animal lover and proud “fur dad” to his dogs, Elvis and Anika. His late dogs—Stella, Eddy, and Delilah—held a special place in his heart. Known as a gearhead, Jon enjoyed fast classic cars and left these words for his friends and family: “I will meet you in the garage.”

He is survived by his loving companion, Lynn Petry; his sons, Joseph (Joe) and Jeffery (Jeff); and his sisters, Sue (Robert) Goto and Becky Dyke. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Alexander Kaplowitz.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dean’s Funeral Home. Cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life will be announced.
