John H Konkle

John H. Konkle, age 84, of Deerfield, Ohio, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, after a brief period of declining health. Born in Ravenna, Ohio, on September 10, 1941, he was the cherished son of Frank and Florence Konkle.

John was a dedicated machinist, known for his unwavering loyalty and work ethic. A testament to his commitment, he famously walked to work during the blizzard of 1978, embodying his determination and resilience. Settling in Deerfield, Ohio, he built a loving home with his beloved wife, Carol, and together they nurtured their family on a small farm.

Family was the cornerstone of John’s life; nothing brought him more joy than spending quality time with his loved ones. He was a generous soul, filled with kindness, and had a delightful sense of humor that endeared him to many. John truly lived life to the fullest, finding happiness in simple pleasures—sharing a home-cooked meal, walking in the woods with Carol, or watching squirrels play. Most precious were the moments spent with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pappy." His legacy lives on through his loving wife of 62 years, Carol, as well as his sons Jeff, John, and James, his daughter Susan Wright, and a wonderful family legacy of 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence, as well as five brothers, five sisters, and his dear daughter, Kimberly Higgens. In honor of his compassionate spirit, the family extends heartfelt gratitude to Traditions Hospice and his dedicated caregivers, Megan, Jessica, and Winnie.

In accordance with John's wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal services will be held at this time. The family has chosen to celebrate his life and legacy privately in the spring.
