John Bryce Duncan

John B. Duncan, beloved husband and father, was called home to rest on January 29, 2026, after a lifetime of dedication to his family, friends, and home. He was born on December 7, 1941, the son of the late Helen Elizabeth and Briah Lee Duncan. Also preceding him was a brother, Thomas Duncan of Portland, Oregon. 

He was an Ellwood City High School graduate in Pennsylvania and went on to become a journeyman pipefitter and welder at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, then later at Alliance Castings, Alliance, Ohio. John was hard-working, enthusiastic, and determined. He had many interests throughout his life, including roller skating, water skiing, boating, camping, horseback riding, and farming. He was a Scout Master in Mahoning County and organized camping trips and other activities for local youth.

Shortly after marrying the love of his life, Carole Marie Sinclair, he bought a farm, which would become his main focus later in life. Together they raised their children, John II and Shari, beef cattle, and other livestock for many years before turning to horses. He loved trail riding, showing, and being involved with the larger horse community. Together, he and his wife decided to turn the farm into Shady Pine Stables, a boarding stable. He enjoyed the interaction with the many people he met along the way in this endeavor and always had a helpful hand or piece of advice.

Mr. Duncan will be missed by his loving wife, Carole, children John B (Louanne Stedman Duncan II, Shari L (Greg Sharpe) Duncan, his grandchildren, Lillian Marie (Chris Paul) Paul, Joseph E. Rutana, Austin Duncan, great-grandchild, Emerson John Paul, Sister-in-law, Nancy (Tom) Duncan, Nieces and Nephews, Adam Duncan, Caitlin Duncan, and Brian Duncan. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home.
