Alliance:
John Derek Blankenship entered peacefully into eternal rest Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his home in Alliance, Ohio after an extended illness.
John was born August 25, 1965, in Chicago Illinois to Ervin & Stella (Butcher) Blankenship.
John attended Minerva High School and began his love of travel and adventure at 18 years old with a trip to Folly Beach, South Carolina and then across the map to California. John had many jobs along the way and loved cooking, but one of his favorite jobs was taking care of Markas, Peyton and Bailey.
Survivors include: his beloved son Michael of Salem, Ohio; sisters, Patricia Mick, Marla Ramsey, Valerie Wheeler, Fredda (Olivia) Kelly, and Stella Juarez; his many nieces and nephews.
In his spare time, John enjoyed spending time with his sons, playing bingo and scratch off tickets, cooking, gossiping with his sister Fredda and spending treatment days with his "baby sister" Stella.
John was surrounded by family and friends and was thankful for Misty and her children, Linda, his sister Marla and Patricia, and many nieces and nephews who traveled to see him in his final days. He will be sadly missed by all those who love him.
A special thank you to Stella Juarez, Angelika Dean, Katie Curfman and Absolute Hospice for their steadfast care in supporting John with travel to and from treatments and daily support so that he could stay in his home as he wished.
John was preceded in death by his beloved son Gabriel Blankenship, his parents and his brothers Ervin (Rusty) Jr., Walter, and Riley (Corky) Blankenship.
In accordance to his wishes and COVID restrictions, there will be a celebration at Perkins Restaurant in Alliance near his home at 1pm on Saturday March 27th, 2021. He will be laid to rest at Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern next to his son. Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com . Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
