James Arthur “Sonny” George, 92, passed peacefully on May 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in unwavering faith, enduring love, and music that carried the message of Christ to all who knew him. Sonny was born on September 1, 1933, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and was the beloved son of Lydia (Grey) and Charles George.

On January 20, 1953, Sonny married the love of his life, Lois (Roosa) George. Together they built a beautiful life grounded in faith, love, and devotion to one another. Their marriage was a testament to enduring commitment, and through their 73 years together they created a beautiful family.

Sonny faithfully drove the church bus at Alliance Baptist Temple for 10 years. He was a hardworking and devoted provider. He retired from F.E. Schumacher Company in Hartville after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed playing his guitar in many churches and nursing homes through the years.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Pearl Percy, Lily McDonough, Jimmy George, Donald George, Charles George, and Rose Robinson.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Lois (Roosa) George; his sisters, Alice Lenigar, Millie Thomas, and Pattie Winters; his children, Pamela Cutright, Doris George, James Jr. (Skip) George (wife:Sherry); Jade (Menace) George (wife:Pam); and Jeffery George (wife:Jo-Lynn); his 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though his absence leaves a profound ache in the hearts of those who loved him, there is peace in knowing he has been called home to be with his Lord and  Savior he served so faithfully throughout his life.
