Our Gunner (AKA Bubba, Turd Burglar, and asshole on occasion) crossed over that rainbow bridge peacefully at home at the age of almost 13 years old.

He was a staple of our family being the protector, alarm master and absolute carnivorous taker of treats. He was so tiny when he came into our lives at 6 weeks old. You could hold him in the palm of your hand, but he grew into a 20lb ruler of the house!

One of his favorite summertime pastimes was eating fresh green beans from the garden. He would literally pull them off the plant stems to the point we had to plant additional bean plants. He would eat them all if we let him.

There was not a single cat, squirrel, bird, jogger, bicyclist, or delivery person that could pass by the house without getting a stern warning to stay away! He meant all business behind the big glass window, but he was just as sweet and welcoming as could be when someone came beyond said window.

He had the biggest personality for a little dog! Very loving, loved his cuddles, afternoon kisses and car rides! While on car rides, he would insist on sitting in my lap and driving with paws on the steering wheel to whatever destination we ventured to.

He loved his walks down the street so he could mark his territory on every plant, street sign, or mailbox! He wanted everyone to know you were in his territory when you were near our house!

He was more structured and regimented then myself when it came to feeding time or going outside if for nothing more than to lay in the grass and soak up the sun.

There were times of frustration, but they were far outweighed by the loving memories of my little Bubba. There is now a gigantic hole in our lives that can only be filled with the loving memories of the time and blessings he gave us.

He is survived by Dave Laubert, Kathy Irvin, adopted sister Caliber (Cali) that now has some very big shoes to fill in his absence. He is also survived by his other adopted sister Sissy the corn snake although they never had much of a relationship.

We are going to miss our little man, but he is at peace now and in the protection of our past loved ones. I'm sure he in good hands.

God bless you little Gunner
