Gertrude E Raney

Gertrude “Trudy” Raney, formerly of Crandall Medical Center at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, Ohio, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in New York City on May 16, 1936, to William and Edna (Wood) Raney, she worked as a data entry clerk for the “Book of the Month” club at Doubleday Book Publishers for 35 years and was a proud 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 718, in Nassau County, New York. Trudy was an avid bowler, a devoted fan of old movies and opera, and a talented organ and piano player. Known as the best babysitter ever, “Aunt Gert” loved children and always had a song, story, or game ready. She was a sweet soul who never missed sending a card for any occasion, always with a heartfelt handwritten note. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William and James, and her sisters Kathleen Sullivan and Patricia Harper. She is survived by her nieces Eileen, Kathleen, Lisa, and Peggy; her nephews Bill, John, and Luke; and many great-nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at Moultrie Cemetery in West Township, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
