George Alexander Shuma, a cherished husband, devoted father, loving uncle, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026. Born on April 24, 1940, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, George’s life was marked by dedication, warmth, and a profound love for the simple joys that life had to offer.

A proud graduate of Duquesne University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree, George embarked on a career that spanned decades, bringing his keen leadership and management skills to the retail industry. He retired after years of service from Ocean State Job Lot and prior to that, he managed stores at Kings and Ames Department Stores with unwavering commitment and grace. His professional life was distinguished not only by his work ethic but also by the genuine care he showed to those he worked with and served.

George was more than his career; he was a man who found peace and happiness in nature’s embrace. One of his favorite pastimes was the blissful tranquility of basking in the sun on the beach, allowing the soothing rhythm of the waves to wash away the stress of the day. His spirit of adventure led him to explore by boat on the serene waters of Lake Erie, as well as to travel and create lasting memories along the shores of Pennsylvania and Cape Cod, Connecticut. These moments were treasures to George and those fortunate enough to share them with him.

In addition to a life rich with experience, George served honorably in the National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to his country and community. His loyalty and service were a testament to his character—a man who was steadfast, reliable, and brave.

George's family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, who stood beside him through all seasons of life, and his son George (spouse Cris). His niece Alexis (Spouse Salvatore) was a cherished part of his extended family, as was great-nephew Sal, whom George proudly served as godfather. Their lives intersected with love, laughter, and the unbreakable bonds of family. George’s home was also filled with the companionship and unconditional love of his furbabies, a source of comfort and joy that brightened his days. Alongside them, many extended family members and friends hold George dear in their hearts, mourning his loss and celebrating the life he lived.

George was preceded in death by his parents, who gave him roots and strength; his sister Roni, and brother-in-law Grant, who remain fondly remembered and deeply missed.

A heartfelt Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2026, beginning at 1230pm, at Harvesting Hope in Your Community, located at 230 S 12th St, Sebring, OH 44672. This gathering will offer a chance for all who knew George to come together, share comforting memories, and honor a truly remarkable man whose gentle spirit touched so many lives.

George Alexander Shuma's life was one of love, resilience, and generous giving. Though he has departed this world, his legacy shines brightly in the hearts of those who loved him. May his soul rest in peace and may the warmth of his memory continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
