Eugene lived a full life built around family, hard work, faith, a love of sports, and the community he proudly called home.
Eugene Rhinehart Schott, 87, of Louisville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2026. Eugene lived a full life built around family, hard work, faith, a love of sports, and the community he proudly called home.
With farming in his blood and a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life, Eugene’s early years included driving a milk truck before finding his way to Raber’s Feed Mill. He eventually purchased the business and, through years of dedication and determination, turned it into the successful Schott Feed and Supply. More than just a business, it became a reflection of his hardworking nature and the pride he took in serving his community. His accomplishments were recognized when he received the Small Business Award from the Alliance Chamber of Commerce.
Eugene proudly served six years in the National Guard’s artillery unit and was a longtime devoted member of Regina Coeli Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life.
Sports were always a big part of Eugene’s life. Whether bowling, golfing, or playing baseball and softball well into his later years, he loved being part of the game. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, but few things brought him more enjoyment than cheering on Mount Union football. He rarely missed a game and even traveled to Virginia to support his beloved Purple Raiders in the playoffs. He also enjoyed giving back to the sport he loved by coaching Hot Stove baseball for several years.
Above all, Eugene cherished his family and the people who were part of his life. He is survived by his son, Michael (Stacie) Schott; stepdaughters, Beverly (Larry) Benjamin and Barbara (Troy) Fitzgibbon; stepsons, Thomas (Carol) Schott and Daniel (Kelly) Schott; and his longtime companion, Linda Greynolds.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kevin, Rylie, Lindsay, Benjamin, Adam, Nathan, Andy, Ryan, Marcus, Lydia, Erik, Emily, and Jacob; along with several great-grandchildren.
Eugene is also survived by his siblings, Ernie (Patti) Schott, Elvira (Neil) Brown, Evelyn Schott, Eileen (John) Amendola, Eloise (Dino) Lodato, Eunice (John) Cushing, Earlyn (Daniel) Griffin, and Eudene (Timmy) Custer.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Roberta and Mildred; his son, Mark Schott; and his sister, Elaine Green.
A memorial Mass celebrating Eugene’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Regina Coeli Church. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Eugene are warmly invited to attend and join in honoring his memory.
During his final years, Eugene was surrounded by kindness, compassion, and genuine affection from the staff at Second Home Living. His family extends a heartfelt thank you to Missy, Michele, Mary, Jay, Stephanie, and Amber for the loving care, comfort, and companionship they provided. They made his final years feel like home, and their kindness will always be remembered.
Eugene leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, faith, and a life well lived. He will be remembered for the business he built, the games he loved, and the many lives he touched along the way. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean’s Funeral Home Sebring.
