David Bruce Edward
Godsey
Apr 27, 1937 — Oct 25, 2026
Alliance, Ohio
David Bruce Edward Godsey, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, departed this world on October 25, 2026, at home, cradled by the love and presence of his devoted family. Born April 27, 1937, to the late Lee and Annie Godsey, David was a spirited soul whose life journey began in earnest when he graduated from Alliance High School in 1954.
David dedicated part of his life to serving his country with honor in the US Navy, achieving the rank of MM3. Professionally, he excelled as a quality control technician. On April 6, 1991, he married Marylou Godsey, with whom he shared a profound and enduring union.
A man of the outdoors, David's passion for hunting led him to the fields and forests as a turkey and deer hunter. His expertise and love for the wild found expression through his membership with the Salem Hunt Club and as a trusted turkey guide in Florida, where he guided enthusiasts for over two decades. Beyond the outdoors, David found joy in the written word as an avid reader and crafted beauty with his hands as a skillful woodworker.
In his passing, David joins his predeceased parents, son Rory Lee Godsey, stepson Rick Kirven, brother Clyde Godsey, sisters Lorice Scipione, Nancy Lamielle, Elsie Mehnert, Patricia Lambert, sister-in-law Judy Godsey, and brother-in-law Karl Wurgler in eternal rest.
His legacy continues to shine through his surviving family: his cherished wife Marylou, children David (Lisa) Godsey, Robin (Mike) Nuccio, Kevin (Becky) Godsey, Michelle Godsey Palmer, Trevor Kirven, Bunky Godsey, Rhoda Godsey, and Judy Godsey. His memory is further honored by his grandchildren Rory (Petey) Godsey, Craig Godsey, Mickey Godsey, David (Oscar) Godsey, Kasaundra Byrd, Lena Cobos, and Devin Palmer, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating David's life will be held on November 8, 2026, from 3 to 5 pm at Runzos. With heartfelt gratitude, the family acknowledges Mike Runzo and the compassionate care of the doctors and nurses at Aultman Hospital.
In the tapestry of life, David's thread is one of strength, warmth, and unyielding love.
