Danny Lee Hughes

Danny Lee Hughes, originally from Sebring, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home. He was born to Justine Johnson and Leland Hughes on March 10, 1946. Dan served in the military as a sharpshooter. He had a lifetime love of cars and spent his days working with vehicles in some capacity. From his first job pumping gas at the gas station to selling vehicles for Wally Armour Ford, Montrose Lincoln-Mercury, or managing Madison Motors, he always had his finger on the pulse of the automotive industry, even working in his retirement years at Advanced Auto Parts. In his spare time. Dan liked working in his home garage, doing whatever he could to maintain the family vehicles, mowers, etc. There seemed to be nothing he couldn’t fix as he was a jack of all trades. Dan was a Cleveland Browns longtime fan, an avid WWII history buff, and liked to watch poker and keep up on the latest news via the internet. After the news at 6 pm, you could always find him watching Wheel of Fortune, followed by Jeopardy. He had a quick wit and left us all smiling at his unique jokes. He always liked to plant and grow sunflowers in the spring.

Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Zerbe) Hughes, and his two surviving children, Tonia (James) Craig and Steven (Sara) Hughes. Grandchildren James (Mallory) Craig III and Kassie (Keath) Machado, Jonah Hughes, Alaya Kiser, and Ava Lockwood, and 3 great-grandchildren, Bryan, Mia, and Haileigh. He is also survived by his sister Tammy Courtney, brother-in-law Tom Mabry, and nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carla Mabry, brother-in-law Lloyd Courtney, and daughter Leiah Kiser.

A time of visitation 4-530pm will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Dean's Funeral Home, 256 W Ohio Avenue, Sebring, Ohio. Followed by a funeral service at 530pm with Pastor  Russ Gumm officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio.
