Obituary for Crystal J. Black October 22, 1960 - April 26, 2024, Crystal J. Black, a figure of resilience and determination, passed away on April 26, 2024. Her life’s journey from October 22, 1960, to her last day was filled with the kind of challenges that forge a strong spirit, reminiscent of the proverbial nine lives of a cat. Crystal was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Black, and her sister, Darlene Whippo. She is survived by her siblings Albert “AL” Whippo & Sandy, Rebecca “Dolly” Burlingame & James, Tom Whippo & Carolyn, her children, John Cole & Angel Black and granddaughter Armani Tronscoso who continue to walk in the light of her unique legacy. Known for her tough exterior, Crystal was often described as being ‘full of vinegar,’ a testament to her fiery spirit and tenacious approach to life. Yet, those who knew her closely experienced a woman full of love and loyalty, especially towards her friends and beloved fur babies. Her fondest memories were crafted in the vibrant atmosphere of carnivals, working alongside her late husband selling the “world famous” Leroy’s sausages. An entrepreneur at heart, Crystal owned several businesses, including a computer store, showcasing her versatility and business acumen. In honoring her wishes, Crystal will be cremated. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to a local no kill shelter such as Angels for Animals in Canfield, Anchor House Inc. out of Alliance, or Ronald McDonald House of Akron all causes close to Crystal’s heart. “Crystal’s life was like a tapestry, rich with color and complex patterns, A testament to her strength, a legacy that matters.
