Carol Roxanne DeGrange, a beloved soul whose gentle presence and constant warmth touched everyone who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Sebring, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on January 11, 1936, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Carol’s life was filled with meaningful achievements.

She was the cherished daughter of Harrison Ray and Edith Brown Buttermore, both of whom preceded her in passing. Carol earned her master’s degree in English from Edinboro State College, was an accomplished ballerina with the Pittsburgh Ballet, and even worked alongside Alvin Ailey of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She later taught English at the University of Mount Union and spent two years teaching abroad in China. A gifted writer, she published both mystery novels and poetry. She was also an accomplished photographer.

With love and dedication, Carol built a close and caring family. Her husband, Professor Donald Hobson, was her partner in life’s adventures for 42 years, sharing fond memories of extensive travel across Europe and even joining him on an archaeological dig. She is survived by her daughters—Roxanne Beebe, Deborah DeGrange, and Yvette Godfrey—and as a stepmother to Kevin Hobson and Kara (Hobson) Dao, she welcomed them with open arms, forming bonds that transcended titles.

Her memory lives on in her grandchildren—Erich (Sarah) Day, Alexander (Rina) Beebe, Christina Delvalle, Sean (Alexandra) Delvalle, Lilli Robinson, and Lucas Robinson—whose moments of joy and laughter with her will always be treasured, as well as her great-grandchildren—Natalie Day, Celia Delvalle, and Noelle Delvalle.

In celebrating the life of Carol Roxanne DeGrange, we honor not only her many accomplishments but also the lasting love, kindness, and grace she shared with all who were fortunate to know her.

In remembering Carol Roxanne DeGrange, we honor not only a life beautifully lived, but also the enduring legacy she leaves within each member of her family and all whose lives she touched. May her memory inspire the same generosity, kindness, and grace that were the hallmarks of her life’s journey. Though she has departed from our midst, the echoes of Carol’s love remain indelible, imprinted upon the hearts of those who loved her most dearly. A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Williamsburg room at Copeland Oaks from 2-4 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home, Sebring, Ohio.
