Andrew M Redfearn

October 4, 1976 — October 9, 2023

Kent

  • KENT, OH – Andy (Andrew) M. Redfearn, 47, passed, October 9th, at his residence.
He was born October 4th, 1976, in Ravenna, OH to Michael D. Redfearn & Diana R. Brown.
Andy loved to make music, namely, by playing the guitar. He enjoyed spending time with his friends who knew him as “Redman” on his CB Radio. He liked to hike and bike on trails & spend time outdoors. He was a gifted and talented musician. He was interested in sciences & was always tinkering with something. He had no arrangements or
requests for his passing. That being said, his daughter wanted to take the opportunity to tell his story in the hopes
that his passing is not in vain.
Andy was an addict. He had been battling addiction since he was 15 years old. His drugs of choice were heroin,
meth, pills & alcohol. As he got older, his battle with addiction only got harder. He then had a daughter (Andria
Lesho-Wilson) with his at the time girlfriend (Wilma E. Wilson) when he was 21 years old. From then on, his life
took many sharp turns both for the worse and for the better. There were times he was a sober, kind, present and
loving person to his family. He had great strides of sobriety and with that, so much freedom. He found peace in
creating, tinkering & spending time with his cat Spooky. He tried new things & wanted to explore. Unfortunately,
that did not last. Most of the time, the drugs had made him absent.
He missed a lot. He was in prison when the love of his life (Wilma) passed away. He missed out on a majority of his
daughter’s milestones; graduation, college, marriage, and having a daughter of her own. He was alone. He was
afraid. He had lost nearly everything. His daughter & her wife had re-connected with him a few months before his
passing. He learned of his granddaughter, his daughter-in-law, and the many other things he had no knowledge of. In
that moment, he had owned up to his mistakes and admitted his failures. He also admitted that death was nearing
    soon.
Recently, he had been diagnosed with severe kidney failure and was nearing end stage. The combination of his past
had caught up to him. It was killing him. That all came to an end on October 9th. He was found by a friend. Testing
revealed he had methamphetamine & fentanyl in his system.
Nobody knows for sure what happened in his apartment in that late night or early morning. However, one thing can
be certain. The drugs he had turned to & the people who provided them for him were not there & they did not love
him. They were not there to shield him from prying eyes & ears. They were not the ones who answered the phone
call, spoke with the coroner, made the arrangements, or contacted family and true friends.
While he may have been an addict, that is not all he was. He was a son, a partner, a father, a friend. He was
someone. He had a life. He had so much yet left to live.
Please, we beg of you, choose life. Choose life while you have the time to live, not when death is knocking at your
door. You are loved. You are worthy. You are enough.
Survivors include his daughter Andria Lesho-Wilson, daughter-in-law Rose Lesho-Wilson & granddaughter Aurora
Lesho-Wilson of Deerfield, uncle Garry Redfearn of Windham, Aunt Vicki Gilpin of Ravenna, cousins; James
Redfearn of Ravenna & Lisa Murton (Redfearn) of Windham; and many extended family members & friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his father Michael Redfearn, uncles Roger & Myron Redfearn, former partner
Wilma Wilson, and his mother-in-law Deanna Wilson.
The family would like to thank those who have taken the time to be kind & courteous to Andy and treated him with
respect and as a person, even after leaving this life.
