Alice L Sweely

Alice L. Sweely, born on September 22, 1940, in North Lima, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2025, at Aultman Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and community member whose warm spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many.

Alice was united in marriage to her husband, Patrick, for 64 cherished years. Their partnership was marked by love, support, and countless shared memories. Together, they raised a family that brought them immense pride and joy. Alice is survived by her children: Gerene Spragg of Cape Fair, Missouri ; Patrick Jr. and Betsy Sweely of Alliance; Scott and Sheila Sweely of Texas; Bruce Sweely and Lori Dearth of Beloit; and Grace and Mark Metzger of North Benton. She also leaves behind a legacy of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, Carrie Walton of Arizona, Nancy Schulze of Sebring, Jim Clay of Illinois, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory in their hearts.

For more than 50 years, Alice was an active member of Smith Grange, where her commitment to community service found expression in her many volunteer endeavors. She devoted her time to volunteering at various local organizations, The Concern in Sebring, and most recently at Harvesting Hope in Your Community, which became a place she cherished deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Ester Clay as well as many loved ones.

Alice had a creative side that she expressed through her hobbies, such as sewing and crocheting. Her lovingly crafted items were a testament to her creativity and caring nature.

Her sudden illness and passing have left a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her. Alice is preceded in death by her parents and many cherished friends and loved ones.

The community is invited to pay their respects to Alice during the visitation on December 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Both services will take place at Harvesting Hope in Your Community, located at 230 S 12th St, Sebring, Ohio. A meal will follow, allowing others to celebrate her life. 

Alice L. Sweely will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for her selflessness and dedication to the betterment of her community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire those who were touched by her life.
