Miles L. Felmly of Deerfield Ohio, passed away Tuesday January 7th, 2020 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Carolyn Rach Felmly; father of son Todd (Paula) of Alliance, and daughter Heather (John) Larkin of Deerfield; grandfather of Colin Felmly, Ian Felmly and Hayley Larkin; preceded in death by father Miles Sr. in 1962 and mother Evelyn in 1983; survived by brothers Robert and James, sisters, Sally and Patty.

Miles and Carolyn were married in 1969 and enjoyed a wonderful life together. Their fondest shared memories were of raising their family and traveling with them on vacations. Miles was very active in his community of Deerfield where he served 50 years as a member of the Deerfield Fire Department and remained an honorary member until his death. Miles served in many offices of the Department and was Fire Chief a total of 25 years. Miles stepped down as Chief when elected to a 4 year term as Deerfield Township Trustee. Several years after his Trustee term Miles again was appointed Fire Chief in May of 1996 and served in that capacity until July 1, 2016, serving a total of 25 years as Chief. Under Chief Felmly's command Deerfield ambulance service was started as well as the first paid on station personnel.

Miles worked a total of 51 years full time, 44 of those years at General Motors Lordstown Fabrication plant. Miles was hired as a Tool & Die Maker in January of 1973. Miles was active in his Union U.A.W Local 1714 and served as an elected Committee person for 6 years and then in numerous other capacities including Safety Representative from 1996 until his retirement February 1, 2017.

Miles earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA) with a specialty in Emergency and Disaster Management. Facebook members can view a celebration of life on Miles Felmly's Facebook page.

Private burial arrangements have been made and a celebration of life service will be held at Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 St Rt 14 Deerfield on Saturday February the 8th from 2-6pm.
